The breakdown

  • Spring Twists
  • Shoulder-Length Twists
  • Coily Texture

How it is done

  1. 10:34You need two packs of spring twist hair, a leave-in conditioner, shine and jam for the parts, and an oil to seal the ends.
  2. 21:02Section your hair into six parts (two in front, two in the middle, two in the back) and do one section at a time.
  3. 32:28For short, low-tension twists, cut each piece of spring twist hair down the middle and use half a piece per twist.
  4. 42:57Split the half piece and put it back together with opposite ends, then take off about a third to start.
  5. 53:26Start like a box braid: braid three or four times, then split the third strand into the other two.
  6. 63:54Finish as a two-strand twist, twisting every twist in the same direction all the way to the end.
  7. 76:21Twist each strand on its own as you twist them together, and trim any extra-long pieces at the ends.
  8. 86:49Put mousse over all the twists. On yourself, the full head takes about six to eight hours.
